The alcohol and other drugs (AOD) field is a deceptively complex area. GP's are increasingly called upon to deal with these complexities that include polydrug use and co-existing mental health problems. So the National Training Package for Medical Practitioners in Illicit Drug Issues was developed. The National Training Package comprises distinct components: Alcohol and Other Drugs: A Handbook for Health Professionals. This is a comprehensive 300 page AOD handbook for health professionals. Resource Kit for GP Trainers on Illicit Drug Issues. This Kit provides an assortment of educational materials to help GP trainers deliver AOD training to GPs
