The year 2000 saw the establishment of Merchants Quay Ireland, bringing together the Merchants Quay Drug Project, the Homeless Services of the Failtiu Resource Centre and the Church Services of the Franciscan Community at Merchants Quay under a single management structure. The report shows that for the year 2000 the number of homeless people visiting the Failtiu Resource Centre rose from an average of 176 people per day from 111 per day in 1999. 3,360 people attended the new needle exchange service, 645 of who were new drug users
