This chapter describes a number of demand reduction programmes or interventions, which fall under the general headings - prevention, harm minimisation and treatment. The authors highlight the need to develop a culture of evaluation around the development of programmes aiming to reduce the demand for drugs, and the need for on-going training and support of such evaluation. The chapter also presents an overview of the training courses available in Ireland in the drugs area.
