The paper presents a cross-disciplinary and cross-linguistic study of structural and rhetorical features of research articles in Lithuanian and English, in the humanities (linguistics and literary studies) and social sciences (economics and sociology). The study is based on corpus linguistics methodology and contrastive analysis. The results show a number of cross-cultural and cross-disciplinary differences in the ways of argumentation and author stance expression.
