The term 'global education' has drawn considerable attention for the last few decades along with the growing phenomenon of globalization or internationalization. While one of its two educational pillars-how to deal with global issues-has been well discussed, the other pillar-humanistic education-has not been relatively well addressed in the literature. This paper introduces a new category of intelligence-spiritual intelligence-in an attempt to show its affinity for global education. It further argues the potential role that the notion of spiritual intelligence can play as a new theoretical underpinning for global education.
