Crucifixes standing by the roadsides are not only simple sacred objects, but also they represent and inspire our living customs. In some cases, the legends and beliefs connected to them can be traced back to ancient times. There are human fates and tragedies lying behind the erection of these crucifixes. Itis importantto research them not only from the perspective of Hungarian and European culture, but also from the angle of universal culture
