This paper reviews relevant literature pertaining to the use of the RIM in neuropsychology, both in clinical and research capacities. Specifically, it is examined in the context of its use in neuropsychological patient populations, in studies examining brain structure and/or function, and in its relation to neuropsychological abilities and/or functions. Based on this review, the RIM is evaluated in terms of its utility as an instrument in neuropsychological assessment. Overall, the findings indicate that the RIM alone cannot provide direct measures of neuropsychological functioning in the same way traditional neuropsychological tests can.
