Intermediate wheatgrass and smooth brome were seeded at 2 depths and 3 seasons for 3 years to determine the best season and depth for seeding mountain ranges. Emergence was best from seeding in September, October, and June, in that order. Seeding at the 0.5- and 1-inch depths gave similar results. Low emergence and high mortality of all treatments indicate the need for additional information on seeding harsh sites on mountain ranges. This material was digitized as part of a cooperative project between the Society for Range Management and the University of Arizona Libraries. The Journal of Range Management archives are made available by the Society for Range Management and the University of Arizona Libraries.
