Two pastures of crested wheatgrass in central Montana were surveyed for arthropods from May 10 through September 30, 1972, and 1973. A vacuum quick trap and the bagging of individual plants showed that five groups of arthropods were important on the basis of abundance and above-ground biomass: grasshoppers, ants, leafhoppers, thrips, and mites. Adults of the first three groups were identified to species. This material was digitized as part of a cooperative project between the Society for Range Management and the University of Arizona Libraries. The Journal of Range Management archives are made available by the Society for Range Management and the University of Arizona Libraries.
