The authors develop three fragments of a linear algebra course for the most advanced group in Flemish secondary schools. First of all, they show how the concepts of linear dependence and dimension can already be prepared in the chapter about solving systems of linear equations with the method of Gauss-Jordan. Secondly, they propose a geometric introduction of determinants (as the effect of linear transformations upon area and volume). Thirdly, the Fibonacci sequence appears as an application of eigenvectors.status: publishe
