A hyperloop pod is a theoretical transportation pod that can travel at several hundred miles per hour in a vacuum sealed tube. The Eagle-Loop propulsion and levitation teams are the two main systems working to develop a Linear Induction Motor (LIM) for the pod design. While there is a decrease in initial power output, the LIM allows for less rail contact, friction, weight, and wearing down of parts. A LIM also allows for decreased losses and higher speeds relative to rotary motors. Testing will be conducted to determine the power consumption, lift force, and axial force at different operational frequencies to determine the optimal performance configuration for the LIM.
