Eigenvalue problems arise in all fields of scie nce and engineering. The mathematical properties a nd numerical solution methods for standard, linear eigenvalue problems are well understood. How ever, recent advances in several application areas resulted in a new type of eigenvalue pr oblem, i.e., the nonlinear eigenvalue problem whic h exhibits nonlinearity in the eigenvalue paramete r. The goal of this thesis is to develop new rational Krylov methods for solving both sma ll-scale and large-scale nonlinear eigenvalue prob lems.
