We introduce a new XY mean‐field spin system whose canonical and microcanonical thermodynamics can be solved exactly. Microcanonical entropy is obtained by a novel use of large deviation techniques. The model desplays ensemble inequivalence and the presence of negative specific heat and temperature jumps in the microcanonical ensemble.status: publishe
