International Workshop

Network-Architecture-City (NAC) is an international workshop for students of architecture. The workshop is an interdisciplinary design study of city patterns. Through exploring the city you will make an architectural survey on the traces of the patterns existing in everyday city life. The goal of the workshop is to produce an architectural knowledge on the dynamics of the city. But the workshop is also a cultural exchange: experiencing varying approaches to read, design and re-construct the environment with fellow students from over Europe. The workshop will be held in the city of Istanbul bringing together various stakeholders like city dwellers and city commuters and the municipality… But as a participant you are also expected to establishing cooperation with the local business world. The NAC workshop focuses on humanities in the context of improving city life by discovering the existing ways of life in terms of repeated activities at a definite territory. At the same time the NAC workshop relates to legal aspects in city planning, to the arts, design and to social sciences Because of the transdisciplinary nature of the field of Architecture, the NAC workshop comprises architecture, but also; sociology (considering people), management (municipality), urban design (selecting strategically spots to work), civil engineering (constructing a space) and education (teaching outside the university and working with non-students).
