A review on how the study of devices and instruments fits in to the undergraduate biomedical engineering (BME), is presented. The field of biomedical instrumentation covers a wide range of topics, and information in the Whitaker database shows that different institutions teach different materials under the broad heading of instrumentation. Various instrumentation courses can be categorized under a school that require two courses, a school that requires one course, and a school that requires only labs. The biomedical engineering field continues to evolve, and devices and instrumentation remain an important facet of this engineering discipline
