While invertebrate reproduction has been actively researched during thepast decades, its neuroendocrine control mechanisms have somehow escaped attention. In sharp contrast, the key features of the neuroendocrine hypothalamus-pituitary-gonad axis, which is central to vertebrate reproductive control, are well known.
