In this chapter we examine different aspect of a music therapy relationship with psychiatric patients. Aspects like indication, the use of words in music therapy, the musical language of the music therapist and the patient, the confidence and tolerance level of the music therapist, the listening attitude and the question of to interpret or not to interpret in music therapy are discussed.Therapeutic phenomena like transference, counter transference, containment, musical reverie, projective identification in music therapy will be described.status: publishe
