The Meaning Of Loss Reflected In Gillian Flynn’s Gone Girl Novel (2012): A Psychoanalytic Approach

This research is about the meaning of loss reflected in Gillian Flynn’s Gone Girl novel (2012) which is analyzed by using Psychoanalytic Approach. The objectives of this study are to describe the characteristic of someone who loss the partner and to discover the meaning of loss in the Gone Girl novel. This research is a qualitative research. The primary data of this research is Gone Girl (2012) a novel by Gillian Flynn. The secondary data are some selected references and material related to the study. The researcher displays three conclusions in this research. Firstly, the character of Nick is always followed his superego than his Id. Secondly, there are two types of loss. Namely primary and secondary loss. Primary loss is happens because of death. Secondary loss is referred to hidden loss because everybody have different experience. Thirdly, there are five impact of loss namely, emotional pain, changing in daily life, damaging identity, destroying relationship, and adjusting belief system
