Gambaran Asupan Natrium (Na) dan Kalium (K) Pada Lansia Di Kota Surakarta

Blood pressure will increase as the body to retain fluid as a result of the intake of sodium that we consume too high. Potassium can function in lowering peripheral resistance, increasing the excretion of sodium and water in the body, and suppressing the secretion of renin angiotensin so that it can lower blood pressure. Based on the survey that was conducted, the highest prevalence of hypertension was found at Penumping Health Center 51.7% and Pucangsawit Health Center 47.1%. This study aimed to determine the description of sodium (Na) and potassium (K) intake in the elderly in Surakarta. This study was a descriptive study with a sample of 18 elderly. The minimum sample set was 94 elderly. This study only used 18 subjects due to the COVID-19 in Surakarta, making it impossible to collect further data. The sampling method in this study was Consecutive Sampling. Data on sodium (Na) and potassium (K) intake were obtained through the Food Frequency Questionnaire (FFQ) in the past month. The FFQ is based on a recall 1 x 24 hour and is equipped with a location survey in the area of the health center. The FFQ was analyzed using the Nutrisurvey program and then compared with the 2019 Recommended Dietary Allowances (RDA). Data on hypertension status was obtained through a doctor's diagnosis. Respondents with hypertension aged 45-59 years or middle age 75% of and 60-74 years old or elderly 25%. Non-hypertensive respondents aged 45-59 years or middle age were 80% and 60-74 years old or elderly 20%. There were 12.5% male respondents with hypertension and 87.5% female gender. Non-hypertensive respondents were male as much as 20% and female gender amounted to 80%. Sufficient category of sodium intake in elderly hypertension is 25% and over category is 75%. Sodium intake in the non-hypertensive elderly was 20% in the poor category and 80% in the moderate category. Potassium intake in non-hypertensive elderly was 100%. The potassium intake in the hypertensive elderly category was 100%. The conclusion in this study was that most of the respondents in the hypertensive elderly group had more sodium intake while the non-hypertensive elderly group had sufficient sodium intake. Respondents in the hypertensive and non-hypertensive elderly group had a category of low potassium intake. The elderly are expected to reduce their consumption of sodium sources and increase their consumption of potassium sources. Hope that the public health will continue to provide promotional and preventive efforts and mobilize cadres to be active in educating the elderly about healthy lifestyles such as eating foods with balanced nutrition, education about food sources of potassium that are good for people with hypertension, education about sodium sources, and routine health checks. to reduce the incidence of hypertension.
