Poligami Sebagai Salah Satu Cara Meningkatkan Derajat Hidup Wanita Menurut Tinjauan Hukum Islam Dan Kompilasi Hukum Islam (Studi Kasus di Kecamatan Jatinom, Klaten, Jawa Tengah)

Polygamy according to Islamic law and positive law is permissible (mubah). In Indonesia, polygamy is still a sensitive topic in society. Polygamy is considered detrimental and miserable for women and only benefits men. The permissibility of polygamy in Islam is not a form of injustice between men and women, bearing in mind the conditions for polygamy are not easy. A man who wants to practice polygamy must really be able to be fair to his wives. The meaning of the word "fair" in terms of polygamy is fair in providing and treating his wives, not fair in feelings of love because it is beyond human control. Polygamy actually protects women from various bad possibilities, such as infidelity and adultery that can damage domestic life. This research uses Empirical Normative method which is obtained that polygamy is still hated and opposed by some women in Jatinom District. Most women disagree when polygamy is said to increase the degree of glory of women. That fact is none other than because the purpose of the glory of women has not yet been fully understood. The purpose of this study is to give a broader meaning to the benefits of polygamy especially for women in order to obtain glory both in the world and in the hereafter
