Pelaksanaan Permohonan Izin Poligami di Pengadilan Agama Klaten

Polygamy in Islam is an act that the majority of scholars say is permissible. But polygamy is still seen as a complicated issue for some women. In Indonesia the issue of polygamy is included in marriage so that it is regulated in Law Number I of 1974 concerning Marriage. Polygamy in Indonesia is not necessarily permissible, because based on the law a man who wants to polygamy should apply for a permit for polygamy in the Religious Court. This research uses an empirical juridical approach. In this study, the writer will give an overview of the judges' considerations in granting polygamy permits in the Klaten Religious Court. Applicants who apply for a polygamy permit must fulfill the requirements for polygamy based on the law. Because with the existence of these conditions is one of the protection of the state to reduce actions that can harm women in terms of marriage
