The population dynamics and seasonal biological and phenological history of the boll weevil, Anthonomus grandis Boheman was determined for a population inhabiting the High and Rolling Plains of Texas. Seasonal increases in the number of boll weevils in cotton fields of Dickens and Kent counties were found to fit logistic growth curves. As a rule, weevil numbers increased exponentially through July, August and September at rates up to about 2.70-fold per week. During October the population growth rate slowed and finally was reduced to zero. Weevils in fields treated with insecticides exhibited an average growth rate of only 1.74-fold per week. ..
