Typescript (photocopy).Texas wintergrass (Stipa leucotricha Trin. & Rupr.) is an erect, tufted, cool-season, perennial which is an important component in plant communities of central and northcentral Texas. Experiments were conducted in the northern Edwards Plateau and southern Rolling Plains to determine the effects of season of burning and clipping on plant density, point frequency, basal area, reproductive vigor, and standing crop of Texas wintergrass. Texas wintergrass responded similarly to burning and clipping. The response of Texas wintergrass to burning was a function of fire intensity, growing conditions following burning, and post-burn competitive interactions with other plant species.
