Even after the experiment was terminated ten years later, the controversy continued, expanding from the original charge that the United States was doing irreparable harm to the Asian environment to an eventual accusation that the weapon used had doomed American servicemen and their future offspring to lives of pain, lessened capabilities, and even death.
