The South American Community of Nations: An Examination of its Potential for Success

It is my belief that Simon Boivar was the first individual to believe that South America could be united in any form. Bolivar helped the criolles of South America to gain their independence from Spain in the 19th century. It was Bolivar dream that South America would be able to become a united collection of states as had happened in the United States of America. Bolivar is a continual hero for South America and is viewed by rest of the world as the George Washington of South America. Unfortunately the different criolles could not come to terms with each other and South America countries were formed separate of each other. Today the different countries of South America are talking with each and being to create the South American Community of Nations. This South American Community of Nations will be a unified economy, social, and political in system South America and will resemble the European Union. If only Bolivar could see that there is faith and hope to be found in South America. For one of Bolivar's most rememberable quotes states:"There is no good faith in America, not among the nations of America. Treaties are scraps of paper; constitutions, printed matter; election; freedom; anarchy; and life a torment."
