Mast cells (MC) are important immune sentinels found in most tissue and widely recognized for their role as mediators of Type I hypersensitivity. However, they also secrete anti-cancer mediators such as tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-a) and granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor (GM-CSF). In addition, MC and their secreted cytokines play a role in the development of atherosclerotic plaque and allergic reactions. Herein, it is demonstrated that MC differentiated from adipose derived stem cells, target and induce breast cancer cell apoptosis via an IgE-mediated targeting method. It also demonstrated that the fullerene derivatives (FDs) inhibit atherosclerotic plaque formation by reducing MC cytokine release. Finally, the demonstra...
