The purpose of this investigation was to study comparisons and relationships among measures of body image, movement satisfaction, and physical self-concept of first and second grade children. An informal aspect of this study was a description of children in the testing situation. The design involved utilization of a self-concept measure which was an adaptation of the Piers-Karris Self-Concept Scale developed by the UCLA Perceptual Motor Learning Laboratory, a movement satisfaction measure developed by Tanner, a body image measure developed by McFee and adapted for use with primary age children by Tanner, and a narrative description of children in the testing situation.
