The purpose of this study was to construct a scale to measure the attitudes of women coaches toward the conduct of intercollegiate athletics for women. The situation-response technique was selected as the method for measuring attitudes. The procedure for constructing the attitude scale involved the identification of areas and sub-areas which served as guides in the development of situation-response items. Five judges assisted in the revision of these areas and sub-areas. The thirteen areas were (1) place of athletics in education and physical education, (2) leadership, (3) financing, (4) public relations, (5) general philosophy, (6) ethics, (7) methods of coaching, (8) team selection, (9) scheduling of events, (10) standards and eligibility...
