The primary purpose of this study was to investigate the perceived status of the American high-school female athlete as compared to the perceived status of the Canadian high- school female athlete. Of secondary concern was the investigation of the status of the high-school female athlete as perceived by high-school female athletes and non-athletes and male athletes and non-athletes, and the comparison of the perceived status of the high-school female athlete with that of the female scholar and cheerleader.
