Preference for furniture style as related to personality type and other selected variables

The major purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between one's personality and his preference for furniture style. Also investigated were the style of furniture presently in the home as related to style preference and level of satisfaction with the present style. Other factors investigated in relation to furniture style preference and level of satisfaction were sex, school or college, classification, marital status, race, and age. Subjects consisted of 325 undergraduate students, age 25 or over, who were enrolled during Spring semester, 1978, at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Included in the sample were all eligible students enrolled in the School of Education, School of Home Economics, and School of Nursing. A twenty percent sample was randomly selected for participation from the College of Arts and Sciences and the School of Business and Economics in order to facilitate nearly equal representation from each area of study
