The purpose of this dissertation was to create a comprehensive model of educational supervision. A selected review focusing on supervisory theories and practices provided insights for its conceptualization. Basic components included a unified theory that embraces strengths of previous models, a consultant approach for applying that theory, and a process for effecting change. It was assumed that these components would constitute a viable model for transcending the narrow and compartmentalized manner by which supervision has been historically defined and practiced.
