Patients' Knowledge of Preventive Tests Which Were Performed in Aspects of Chronic Non-Communicable Diseases

Aim of the Final Project: To evaluate patients’ knowledge of the tests performed on them in primary health care for the prevention of non-infectious diseases. Objectives of the Final Project: 1. To compare the knowledge of people of different genders, ages and education about the research performed on them in primary health care. 2. Find out what tests the family doctor performs for preventive purposes. 3. Find out how often patients visit a family doctor for preventive purposes in certain age groups. Research Methods: Random people over the age of 18 who have agreed to complete the questionnaire. The research was assessable on the website www.apklausa.lt. The survey was concluded in accordance with the procedure for prevention and control of non-infectious diseases in Lithuania. Ensuring the confidentiality of subjects: the confidentiality of the subjects is guaranteed because the questionnaire is anonymous and the name, surname and address of the subjects was not asked. Statistical data analysis was performed using SPSS program. The observe differences and dependencies between the marks were considered statistically significant when the calculated significance level (p value) was less than 0,05. A study was conducted with 300 respondents, of whom 207 (69.0%) were women and 93 (31.0%) were men. The mean age of the respondents was 37.91 (standard deviation SN = 0.824). Result: The most frequently cited reason for a visit to a family doctor was prevention in 53.3%. The first (18-40 years) and second (41-65 years) age groups mostly visited their family doctor for preventive purposes. The third age group (> 65 years) is due to extension of prescribed medicines. The most common examination by a family doctor in the last 12 months was general blood test (50.7 percent) and ABP measurement (44.3 percent). For preventive purposes, the most common tests are height measurement (95.9 percent) and mammography (95.3 percent). For people with primary education, general blood test was always performed (100 percent) and mostly with secondary education (91.2 percent). For people with professional education ABP was always performed (100 percent), with higher education general blood test (87.7 percent) and with education of University - 91.9 percent. Conclusions: Comparing the results of preventive studies between different, education and age groups, it was found that these studies were performed statistically significantly more often in younger people, and the results did not differ statistically significantly between different educations. According to patients, the most common tests performed by a family doctor for preventive purposes are the measurement of blood pressure and blood glucose levels (more than two-thirds). According to the respondents, the least frequent examinations (only for one tenth) are digital examination, as well as examination and palpation of the breasts. For preventive purposes, family doctors are most often visited by people aged 18-40, people aged 41-65 are less likely to visit than younger people, and people aged > 65 are the least likely to visit
