Platinum(II) complexes have been used as antitumor agents since the end of XX century, when cisplatin and lately carboplatin were approved by FDA. Despite the great success of these compounds in clinical medicine, a series of side effects, as well as intrinsic or acquired resistance, have motivated countless research groups to search new complexes safer and more effective.
