Validation and criticism of measurements in urban hydrology. Knowledge development in urban hydrology and, to a lesser extent, the operation of sewer systems, rely both on measured data. Under some circumstances, these data may not describe accurately the considered processes, as they are sensitive to sensors failures and special hydraulic events. So measured data must be analysed and validated before being used for any application. This validation process can be staged in two steps. The first one deals with each measured signal and checks its compliancy with basic physical constraints (range, gradients…) and statistical features (correlation), derived from “clean” data.
