The equations used to calculate agricultural drainage usually assume homogeneous, anisotropic, or at best homogeneous, anisotropic soils as regards hydraulic conductivity. One of the authors has shown that drainage theory may also be applied to heterogeneous soils if an “ equivalent horizontal hydraulic conductivity ” is introduced.
