A way in the battle with eutrophization is to prevent the phosphorus accumulated in sediments to diffuse within all the lake. As described herein, a new means to reach such a result consists in an injection of aluminium sulfate into these sediments, using for that an especially designed equipment. A treatment achieved on an experimental small lake entailed a spectacular and lasting drop down of orthophosphoric and total phosphorus contents in all the water mass as well as a quantitative and qualitative change of the planktonic flora.
