Hydroelectric development of the Durance river, between its confluence with the Verdon river and the Pool of Berre, was granted to Electricité de France (E.D.F.) provided that this last would particularly make the necessary arrangements for maintaining the alluvial water-table same supplying conditions as before the works. A number of tests and studies were carried out by E.D.F. in order to appreciate the water-table regime eventual changes and to be sure that it is technically possible to supply it again, artificially , in the case of an abnormal lowering.
