The relaxation of gas and vapour cavitation in liquids subjected to ultrasonic waves. It is shown that major discontinuities in the cavitation noise level and ultrasonic intensity occur if the ultrasonic energy is made to increase, or is kept constant, between certain values depending on experimentally determined physical parameters, or if the gas pressure is reduced to a value below that of the liquid pressure. These discontinuous variations have a definite duration and, given constant experimental conditions, are also periodic ; with respect to time, they are comparable with relaxation curves from the cavitation of a gas to that of steam, and vice-versa.On montre que des variations discontinues importantes de l'amplitude du bruit de cavi...
