Potential evapotranspiration and evaporation under a shelter. The evaporation rate recorded in a sheltered evaporimeter (c.g. “Piche” type) is compared theoretically with, the natural evaporation of vegetation with a normal supply of water. This investigation shows that the evaporimeter readings can be corrected by a factor depending on temperature, and that the corrected “sheltered” evaporation rate thus obtained is proportional to the potential évapotranspiration of the air. Within the limits of the initial assumptions, the value of the experimental factor appears to be independent of both climate and geographical position, thus providing a quick easy method of measuring potential évapotranspiration on a daily basis.Le phénomène de l'év...
