In Fido, the increased subjectivity of Billy Collins’ mute zombie butler plays well to the film’s comedic flow; in addition, this subjectivity reveals the extent to which this film, Colin, and Otto evolve from the familiar Romero-inspired flesh eater to the socially and politically freighted zombie of Haiti, a figure of repression and rebellion.
