This article describes the dilemma faced by Orthodox Jewish women in both the United States and in Israel due to the safety concerns over ritual cleansing through the use of mikveh during the coronavirus pandemic. The article features religious organizations that have put out guidelines pertaining to the mikva’ot, such as the Orthodox Union and the Jewish Orthodox Women’s Medical Association (JOWMA). In addition to alternatives to the ritual, the article also features the Center for Women’s Justice in Israel and Shayna Abramson and their concerns regarding the rabbinic response to women and the ritual of bathing in a mikveh during the COVID-19 pandemic
