This master’s thesis provides an overview of challenges that pre-service teachers experience and describe during collaborative learning in mathematics. Previous research has indicated that groups can be expected to be more effective in solving problems than individuals. On the other hand, working collaboratively can be hard work both emotionally and intellectually, leading to challenges that can potentially hinder learning or ideally improve it if appropriately addressed.
