Pollution is linked to many health conditions; thus, it is important to monitor the air quality of where someone lives. This can be autonomously done with IoT solutions. In this thesis, we create a solution for monitoring air quality with a scalable IoT infrastructure. This solution (CO2.io) is designed to be an “off-the-shelf” software and hardware solution for quick remote and distributed setup. The implemented system was programmed using Node.js. The application is containerized and is deployed in a Docker Swarm using Amazon EC2 service to gain good scalability support.
