The influence of ICT on the daily life of elderly: study of a computer course in a federal institute

Paralelo a isso, com o crescente avanço tecnológico, constata-se que as relações sociais se modificam em diferentes aspectos da vida das pessoas. Para enfrentar essa realidade, faz-se necessário pensar nessa população da era analógica e inseri-la nesse quadro, evitando, assim, a exclusão digital. Nesse contexto, a presente pesquisa teve como objetivo geral investigar a influência das TIC na qualidade de vida dos idosos. Assim, buscou-se identificar as motivações para os idosos usarem as TIC nas suas atividades diárias; caracterizar as competências das práticas de utilização das TIC pelos idosos e as consequências na sua vida; descrever a utilização das TIC na promoção de um envelhecimento ativo e enunciar as percepções dos idosos quanto às consequências do aprendizado de novas tecnologias. Para atingir os objetivos propostos, foi realizada uma pesquisa de caráter explicativo e descritivo, utilizando-se de bibliografia e de documentos, bem como da pesquisa de campo, na qual foram realizadas entrevistas e foram aplicados questionários com o público participante do projeto “Saúde e cidadania na terceira idade – Centro de promoção à saúde do idoso”, frequentador do curso de informática para a terceira idade. Os resultados apontaram que o curso proporcionou uma melhoria na qualidade de vida desses idosos, em aspectos como independência, inclusão e interação social, assim valorizando a sua dignidade enquanto cidadãos.Today there is an increasing perspective of longer lives and, consequently, an expressive aging of society. Parallel to this, with the increasing technological advance, it can be seen that social relations change in different aspects of people's lives. To face this reality, it is necessary to think about this population of the analog age and insert it in this picture, thus avoiding digital exclusion. In this context, the present research aimed to investigate the influence of ICT on the quality of life of older people. Thus, we sought to identify the motivations for older people use of ICT in their daily activities; to characterize the skills of ICT use practices by older people and the consequences on their lives; describe the use of ICT in promoting active aging and enunciate the perceptions of the elderly about the consequences of learning new technologies. To achieve the proposed objectives, an explonatory and descriptive study was conducted, using bibliography and documents, as well as field research, in which interviews were conducted and questionnaires were applied to the public participating in the project “Health and citizenship in the best age – Center for health promotion of the elderly” attending a computer course for the elderly. The results showed that the course provided an improvement in the quality of life of these elderly people, in aspects such as independence, inclusion and social interaction, thus valuing their dignity as citizens
