An overview and data report on college application month 2019

There is a national effort aims to assist high school seniors in navigating the college admissions process and to ensure that each participating student submits at least one college admissions application. The South Carolina Commission on Higher Education staff met with North Carolina/GEAR UP in 2009 to study the College Application Day model and possible implementation of a program in South Carolina. In 2019, 241 high schools across the state registered to host College Application events in the fall. During these events, high school seniors were provided with the opportunity to receive one-on-one college application assistance from the community, school volunteers and college admissions professionals
