Thesis (M.Sc.)-University of KwaZulu-Natal, Durban, 2013.The Shu Shu thermal springs are located in central KwaZulu-Natal in South Africa at an altitude of 250m above mean sea level at the bottom of the Tugela Valley. They have been investigated in an attempt to ascertain whether or not they possibly share a common origin with fifteen other springs which are located in a north-northwestern trending, 1000km long zone within the eastern interior of the country. They have also been studied to establish if they potentially represent a viable and sustainable geothermal energy resource that may be developed in the future.
