How to hook a schnook, i.e. about youth magazines language. Linguistic and didactic reflections

The article presents some issues connected with colloquialisms used in youth magazines. It introduces a comprehensive definition of a colloquial language, discusses factors shaping the media language, inter alia a new generation of journalists, media marketing assumptions, and features of youth gobbledygook. Moreover, the article analyzes the language of texts targeting a young reader and indicates the most essential features of a sphere of lexis, phraseology, wordformation and semantics on the basis of excerpted examples. It provides evidence for the changes that have occurred in the language of youth magazines in the past nine years (inter alia, English language expansion and vulgarisms).
