An action research for the analysis, design and evaluation of the use of board games as a strategy to improve motivation in english language learning of fifth grade students at victor manuel cortes primary school

Anex 5, 6, and 7: application of board games.Los estudiantes de las escuelas primarias tienen poca motivación para aprender inglés como idioma extranjero, principalmente porque las clases tradicionales no brindan suficientes oportunidades para aprender el idioma de una manera significativa y divertida. Por lo tanto, este proyecto tiene como objetivo mejorar la motivación de los estudiantes de inglés utilizando juegos de mesa; Para ello, diseñé cinco actividades que incluyen el uso de juegos de mesa en cinco clases de inglés en el quinto grado de la institución educativa Víctor Manuel Cortés, para estudiar y evaluar la efectividad de esta estrategia en la mejora de la motivación. Los 15 participantes del estudio fueron elegidos al azar y asignados a clases adicionales con el consentimiento previo de los padres. Las cinco clases duraron 50 minutos, donde se aplicaron juegos de mesa dentro de diferentes actividades. El análisis de la efectividad de esta estrategia se midió mediante la implementación de una encuesta para analizar las percepciones de los estudiantes, un cuestionario en la tercera clase adicional y una entrevista al final del estudio, los datos mostraron resultados positivos en la mejora del aprendizaje del inglés que aseguran su aplicabilidad en otras áreasStudents of primary schools have low motivation in learning English as a foreign language, mainly because traditional classes do not provide enough opportunities to learn the language in a meaningful and fun way. Therefore, this project aims to improve English learners’ motivation using board games; to do this I designed five activities that include the use of board games in five English classes in the fifth grade of the Victor Manuel Cortes educational institution, in order to study and assess the effectiveness of this strategy in the improvement of motivation. The 15 participants of the study were randomly chosen and assigned to extra classes with the previous parent's consent. The five classes lasted 50 minutes, where board games were applied within different activities. The analysis of the effectiveness of this strategy was measured through the implementation of a survey to analyze students´ perceptions, one questionnaire in the third extra class and an interview at the end of the study, the data showed positive results in the improvement of English learning which ensure their applicability in other areas
