Design and synthesis of a new cysteine protease inhibitor as a potential drug against infectious diseases including COVID-19

Curs acadèmic: 2019/2020In this research project, the design and synthesis of a new cysteine protease inhibitor have been carried out. The chemical structure of this inhibitor consists of a modified dipeptide (Phe-HPhe) with the N-terminus protected with an N-methylpiperazinyl carbonyl moiety and the C-terminus replaced by a fluoronitroalkene group working as the electrophilic warhead to be attacked by cysteine proteases.
