“Bourdieu’s Forms of Capital and their Role in Recent Graduates’ Success in IT or related areas in Portugal” This study attempts to understand how the different forms of capital, as defined by Bourdieu, can influence recent graduate success in IT areas, in Portugal. It follows two studies conducted on recent graduates from business areas, by Cardoso and Ambrósio. It is designed with a mixed methods approach, in which 15 interviews were conducted and 102 responses were obtained through an online survey. Economic capital showed the strongest relationship with perceived graduate success, followed by cultural and social capital.
